Domestic Charges

Being charged with domestic violence can be an excruciatingly painful experience that can happen to anyone. If it happens to you, the best thing you can do is have a true advocate on your side, someone who will fight for you. The attorneys at Dineen Defense Firm will stand in your corner.

Unfortunately, domestic violence allegations are often used as a tactic in contentious family law cases. It is extremely important to defend yourself against false claims. If you are not properly represented and the allegations are not appropriately addressed, you could face criminal charges or have a restraining order taken out against you.

Time Is A Factor In Door County Restraining Orders

If a petition for a temporary restraining order (TRO) is filed alleging you are a danger to another person, your time is limited to build your defense. The court will determine whether a TRO is issued based upon the information contained in the petition. If a TRO is granted, the court will then schedule a hearing within fourteen days to determine grounds for the claim. An injunction, or order of protection, may then be granted for up to 2 years for child abuse charges, and up to 4 years for domestic abuse, harassment, and individuals at risk. These charges will appear on your record, and if children are involved, a restraining order may limit your access to them.
